The Learning Support Department is managed by a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and 13 Teaching Assistants. The team includes four Provision Leaders to manage support and provision in key areas of additional need. We also have a teacher who coordinates assessment including test and exam concessions. The Department has its own dedicated area in the Learning Hub for teaching, meetings and resources.
The Department plays a key role in promoting inclusion and access to the curriculum for all students. Students are supported according to need, mainly by Teaching Assistants within the classroom, but additional group work and one-to-one intervention may be offered where appropriate. We aim to produce independent and confident learners who achieve accreditation beyond their potential.
The Department liaises with external specialist services such as the Educational Psychologist and we have an excellent pupil inclusion programme running with the Granta School, a special school based on the LVC campus.
