Artsmark Platinum

LVC was awarded Artsmark Platinum status by Arts Council England in 2019 in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the arts, including dance, drama, music and visual art.

Here are some examples of arts activities which take place at LVC:-

  • A number of arts clubs take place throughout the week
  • GCSE Art students host an exhibition of their work as part of the Summer Soirée each year
  • GCSE Dance students and members of Dance clubs have put on a Dance Show
  • The LVC Wind Orchestra has made tours of Croatia, Spain and Italy and the LVC choir has performed in Belgium and at the Bandstand on the Beach as part of the Aldeburgh Festival
  • Many students have instrumental or singing lessons both after school and during the school day, and there are a number of thriving ensembles including a brass group, pop choir and guitar ensemble. The college choir, Wind Orchestra and musicians perform each year at the Carol Concert and Summer Soirée.
  • In November 2015 we took part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival, performing Much Ado About Nothing at the Mumford Theatre in Cambridge.
  • Students at LVC have been involved in making films in partnership with Sawston Cinema. You can see a film made at our 2015 summer school at and a film made by year 10 drama students at
  • Many of our students take part in the Arts Award a national qualification which involves taking part in an arts activity, attending an event and writing a review, researching your own arts hero and sharing an artistic skill by teaching or supporting someone else.
