World Cup comes to LVC

The England team may have made an early exit from the World Cup in South Africa, but more than 120 children from local primary schools kept the spirit of the World Cup alive when they took part in a World Cup-themed sports day at LVC on Tuesday 29 June.

The Year Two sports festival, organised by Year 10 junior sports leaders, gave pupils from Burrough Green, Balsham, Linton, Great Abington and Castle Camps the chance to try out a number of football and athletics activities including ‘Beat the Keeper’, ‘Kick Cricket’, ‘Parachute’ and ‘King of the Ring’ as well as taking part in a World Cup quiz.

The whole day was planned by year 10 students Charlotte Elliott, Charley Murphy, Dominic Ankers and Luke Bird with the support of more than 40 junior sports leaders.

A similar event will take place at LVC for Year 1 students on Tuesday 13 July.
