A High Performing Specialist School
Linton Village College has been a Business and Enterprise specialist school for the past five years. Following our continued high achievement for students and our 'outstanding' OFSTED status, we were also successful in gaining a second specialism in Applied Learning in 2009.
Specialist status gives your child the opportunity to be part of a wider learning community as Linton works closely with schools on a local, national and international level. Along with addtional resources, this results in providing an exciting curriculum and innovative enrichment activities that benefit all students at Linton.
In recent years, we have been recognised for our achievements in leading local partnerships, and have contributed to a number of national events. Our specialism leaders, Mr Ian Simmons (Business and Enterprise) and Mr Richard Hall (Applied Learning) are also national Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Lead Practitioners.
The Applied Learning Specialism
"Making learning applicable, not just applied"
Our aims are to:
- increase achievement for all students of all abilities
- develop relevant, interesting and alternative pathways for students that will help them in their chosen careers
- explore new learning opportunities and methods that give students an exciting experience
- provide all students with a high-quality skills base
We are using the specialism to make our curriculum more relevant to the world of work and further study by exploring:
- the curriculum we offer
- how we teach and learn
- the qualifications students can gain
- improving information, advice and guidance
- developing further external links and partnerships with further and higher education, business partners and national organisations

The Business and Enterprise Specialism
Our aims:
- to provide opportunities for enterprise learning for all students through the curriculum.
- to create an ethos of enterprise across the whole school
- to develop the enterprising skills and attributes for all our students
- to deliver distinctive enterprise opportunties within the students' curriculum at KS3 and KS4
- to enhance the impact of enterprise across the local community
As a Specialist Business and Enterprise College we are innovators in enterprise education, creating an environment for students to:
- develop their communication skills
- develop a 'can do' attitude across all aspects of school life
- build up the skills to manage risk and change
- promote their participation in social enterprise
